This year one of the festival’s events “In Elgar’s Footsteps” involved a guided walk from British Camp to St Wulstans where we enjoyed a recital of Elgar’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in A minor, op. 82.
It was performed by Shuwei Zuo (violin) and Jiayi Chen (piano) who did great justice to the acoustics of the church. |
Luckily, those walking in Elgar’s footsteps were treated kindly be the weather. Dry but not too hot.
Of course, there’s always going to be a queue for well earned refreshments.
As not everyone is local, the visitors were given a brief history of St Wulstans and the Elgar graves by James Sweetman.
Suitably refreshed, over 50 people settled down for the recital.

Finally, great praise from Hilary Elgar. What more could they ask for.
