St Wulstan's Today

As a community we try to live out our faith by the celebration of Mass, but like everyone else we have had to make changes. Pre COVID the Parish Mass on Sunday morning was sung; the one on Saturday evening had no singing. Both had several brief moments of silence.  On the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month normally coffee was available in the parish room after the 10.30 Mass. We had two weekday Masses, normally on Monday and Friday mornings celebrated at the Lady Chapel altar in St Wulstan’s Church.

Now we hold a Zoom Mass on Saturday at 5.00pm and a Mass on Sundays at 10.30am in St. Wulstan’s, where all coronavirus precautions have been taken.

Baptisms and marriages can still be arranged and preparation for first Holy Communion and for confirmation is led by a catechist or a priest.

There is still adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the last Saturday of each month.

We used to organise an annual summer parish pilgrimage to such places as Harvington Hall, Walsingham, the monastery of Our Lady and St Bernard at Brownshill, and Prinknash Abbey. There was also at least one Day of Recollection in the spring or early summer.

All such activities we hope we will be able to return to in the future.
